You’re an entrepreneur. You’re chasing your dream to succeed, make a difference, and become the go-to person in your space. Then, as you start to get your business in order, it hits you—what does my business look like? No, really—what is the actual concrete visualization of my business, and how do I pull this vision out of my head and make it appear for the world to see in a way that is authentic, stands out from the competition, and gets me the leads and sales I need to be a successful business owner?

Guess what? You’re in the right place! Taking dreams—even pieces of dreams—out of peoples’ heads and making them a visual reality that is authentic to the dreamer is what I love to do. Let’s get started with the basics—what is a visual brand identity, and why is it so important to be authentic when creating our brand and marketing our businesses?

It’s true that your visual brand is the logo, the colors, and the fonts used on your website, social media accounts, and in your other marketing materials. But it’s also in the feeling that comes from the combination of those pieces that creates the identity of your business—whether it’s the feeling and identity that you meant to portray or not. This is why it’s so important to break down all the layers, and go step-by-step, piece-by-piece to create a visual brand identity that is authentic to you and creates the right feelings within your ideal clients to drive them to engage with your mission.

Now, let’s go a little deeper into why it’s so important to be authentic. Take a minute and just think about the competitors in your space. There are good ones, not so good ones, and companies or organizations who are succeeding so well that you might wish you could be exactly like them. Tony Robbins says, “If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you’ll achieve the same results.” While it’s true that this will bring you success on the back end, if you were exactly like your competitors, in all areas, you wouldn’t stand out in the marketplace at all. You would blend in, and become just another business in a giant sea of competitors. This is why it’s so important to set yourself and your business apart in a competitive market, and use your authenticity as your strength.

It’s when we are our unique selves, and let our authentic purpose shine through, that we stand out the most. The world craves authenticity. And no one does authentic youbetter than you do. Each one of us has a different purpose, a different mission to fulfill and a different way of doing things than the next person.

Others may be telling a similar story, but no one can tell that story exactly like you can. Someone out there is waiting to hear it in your voice, through your words, and follow you down the path you’re creating.
